Who is Mark Lee?
Mark Lee is a Canadian rapper, singer and songwriter, best known to the world as a member of the boy band NCT (Neo Culture Technology), but has recently released his own material, including songs “Drop” and “Lemonade”, among others. Also, Mark has joined supergroup SuperM, with whom he worked on their debut EP, “SuperM”, released in October 2019.

Mark Lee was born as Lee Min-hyung on the 2nd August 1999, in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada to South Koran parents.
He spent his first six years in Canada, but then the entire family moved to South Korea. Mark enrolled at Eonju Middle School, then started exploring other possibilities and enrolled at a music school, and also started studying at the Seoul School of Performing Arts.
Mark’s foray into show business happened in late 2013, when he was introduced as a member of SM Rookies; ran and operated by SM Entertainment, the SM Rookies is a pre-debut training team.
In the next three years, Mark honed his talents with other members of the SM Rookies, and in 2016, alongside Taiel, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, and Jaehyun became a member of NCT U. Since their debut, NCT U’s members have been divided into several sub-units, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT, although Mark has been a part of all subdivisions.
Nevertheless, the group’s debut single “The 7th Sense” was released in 2016, under name NCT U, taking their first steps toward becoming popular.
The group continued to exist in various names, and Mark was a part of all of them.
Rise to Prominence
Before releasing the first full-length album, they worked on EPs “NCT #127” (2016), which topped the Korean chart, then “Limitless” (2017), which also reached No. 1 on the Korean chart. The next EP was released under the group name NCT Dream in August 2017, entitled “We Young”, which reached No. 2 on the Korean chart. The long awaiting debut studio album was finally released in March 2018, and “NCT 2018 Empathy” achieved platinum status in Korea.
NCT continued to make music, and their next album “Regular-Irregular”, became their most successful release, as it topped the Korean Chart, and reached No. 2 on the US World chart. The sales reached platinum status, making Mark both rich and famous.
In addition, as a solo artist Mark released his debut track “Drop”, a duet with Seulgi, in 2017. He has since worked on new material, preferably soundtrack songs, such as “Dream Me” for the TV series “The Ghost Detective”, among others.

To speak further about his musical career, most recently Mark became a member of the supergroup SuperM, which consists of musicians who are also a part of SM Entertainment. The members include Taemin who is also a member of SHINee, then Mark’s bandmates Taeyong, Te, and Lucas, and Baekhyun who is a member of EXO. So far, the group has released their debut album “SuperM” on the 4th October 2019, which reached No. 3 on the Korean chart, but it topped the US Billboard 200 chart, increasing further Mark’s popularity and net worth.
