Before “Friends”, Matt struggled to launch his career. It was in 1987 that he featured in the Heinz Tomato Ketchup commercial, then the following year portrayed Chuck Bender in the TV series “TV 101” (1988-1989), while with the start of the ‘90s, he was selected for the role of Vinnie Verducci in the TV series “Married… with Children”, which spawned spin-off series based on his character, “Top of the Heap” (1991), and “Vinnie and Bobby” (1992).

It was in 1994 that Matt secured the most successful role in his career, as Joey Tribbiani in the TV comedy series “Friends”.
