Skyler Austen Gordy was born on August 23, 1986, in Los Angeles, into a well-known musical family. In 1959 his grandfather, Berry Gordy, was the founder of Motown, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group – he subsequently sold the Motown Productions TV/film operations to Motown executive Suzanne de Passe, who renamed the company de Passe Entertainment. No known professionally as Sky Blu, he is the son of Berry Gordy IV and Valerie Robeson.
His sister, Mahogany Lox, is an American singer, actress, and DJ, actually named after the movie “Mahogany”, produced and directed by her grandfather. She gained fame thanks to Vine, and as a part of the Magcon tour in 2014. Their 10 years older uncle – Stefan Kendal Gordy aka Redfoo – had the biggest impact on the sibling’s music careers, as in high school he was a classmate with Will I Am and GoonRock, matriculating from Palisades Charter High School in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California in 1995.

Skyler started his music career in 2006, when he formed the duo LMFAO with his uncle Redfoo. “I’m in Miami Bitch” was their first single, released at the end of 2008. In the same year, LMFAO collaborated with The Crystal Method’s on the song “Sine Language.” LMFAO’s two biggest hit songs are “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy, and I Know It,” which were released in January 2011.
The former became a number one hit in over ten countries, including the USA, Canada, Germany, France, the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. LMFAO recorded their second album, “Sorry for Party Rocking”, and released it in 2011 in the US.
