Kawhi Anthony Leonard was born on the 29th June 1991 under the sign of Cancer, in Los Angeles, California USA, and was raised alongside four elder sisters by his father, Mark Leonard, who was the owner of a car wash, and his mother, Kim Robertson.
He went to Canyon Springs High School, located in Moreno Valley, California, but later transferred as a junior to Martin Luther King High School. There he played basketball for the King High Wolves, leading them to set a 30–3 record, and won the 2009 California Mr. Basketball award. He continued on to play for San Diego State University’s team – the Aztecs. He was twice named First-team All-MWC and Consensus Second-Team All-American.
Professional Career
Kawhi was selected by the Indiana Pacers as the 15th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft , but was immediately traded to the San Antonio Spurs. He was a member of the team until 2018, and then signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors, playing there for a season. Kawhi started the 2019 season with the Los Angeles Clippers. Playing in the position of a small forward, Kawhi has won two NBA championships in 2014 and 2019 with the Spurs and Raptors respectively, and was named twice NBA Finals MVP in the same years.
