She has a degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas. While she was in elementary school, she had a teacher who encouraged her to write, which is how her love for writing came to be. In the beginning, she was interested in journalism, but when she watched a comedy show in Chicago, she realized she wanted to do comedy. When she moved to LA to be closer to her boyfriend was when other possibilities opened up. They soon broke up, but she was lucky enough to find a job on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show.

Family Life

Jimmy and Molly have two children. Their daughter is named Jane, born on the 10th of July 2014. Since Molly is catholic, she decided to baptize her daughter, and write her a letter on why she chose to do it, despite all the flaws of the church; she did encourage her to move away from Catholicism later on in her life, if that is what she wants. Their second child is a boy named William John, who was born on the 21st of April 2017, with a heart condition, which meant he had to undergo a surgery at only three days of age.

Jimmy Kimmel has two more children from his first marriage, and Molly has a good relationship with them.

Career path

Molly started her professional career in 2003, and the next year started working on the Jimmy Kimmel show. She was a writer’s assistant at the beginning, but has been involved in many other projects too. She was a writer for the Emmy awards in 2012, and a co-writer for the 89th Oscars in 2017. Her passion for comedy found its way through writing skits for NBC. Her office is not in the same building as Jimmy’s, but they e-mail ideas to each other all the time, and are both a part of the creative process.

One of the projects her talent came forward with and attracted massive attention and many views, was the episode in which Josh Groban sings tweets about Kanye West, which became popular and went viral. Her net worth is estimated at $5 million.

Jimmy Kimmel Show and Their relationship

When she applied for the job for the Jimmy Kimmel show, she did not know who he was she hadn’t watched his show. Not only that, Molly did not have an excellent first impression, since she didn’t like his attitude in the meeting.

There is even an anecdote about how they met. Jimmy’s executive producer introduced her to Jimmy, and said that she runs triathlons, to which Jimmy responded that it is so stupid, and a waste of time. During her first year there, they had little contact and were not very fond of each other. However, one day, Jimmy asked what everyone’s favorite food was, and afterward cooked her favorite meal. She didn’t want to start a romantic relationship with her boss, but they ended up dating in 2009 and married in 2013.

Interesting Info

Molly is 5feet 9ins (1.75m) tall and weighs 126lbs ~ 63kgs. She is slim, has brown eyes, and blonde hair. She writes most of Jimmy’s jokes and comments, an helped create the segment of his show called ‘celebrities read mean tweets’, and even picked out the music for it, which is REM’s Everybody Hurts. She has a minor acting career as well in the movies “Fun Mom Dinner”, and “Dumpling”, and she also appeared in a few episodes of her husband’s show.

She was a part of a podcast Life Lessons about women who have made amazing careers in their fields, and she talked about how to become a TV writer. Molly also encourages other women to be funny, because she thinks that we live in a society that still thinks of women as less fun than men – with her excellent career, she has proved otherwise.

She and Jimmy started an open debate about the health care system after they faced their son’s illness and surgery.

Jimmy talked about it on his show, and tried to raise attention to families who have trouble getting health care for their children. Not long afterwards, they were met with a lot of criticism for allegedly politicizing their child, which in her words was crazy. They were both attacked on social media, although she says that there were a lot of positive comments as well.
