Shane spent only a bit of his childhood in Idaho, as the family moved to live in Homer, Alaska shortly after he was born. He was raised by his father Atz Kilcher, a musician and a TV personality, and his mother who was a singer, but his parents divorced when he was six, and his father married Bonnie Dupree, who can often be seen appearing in the “Alaska: The Last Frontier” show.
Shane is of Swiss descent – his grandparents Ruth and Yule Weber came from Switzerland when World War II began.

Between 1997 and 2010, Shane worked on the Clearwater Project, which spread to 18 countries over the course of years, such as Tibet, Mexico, and many African countries – the goal of the project is simply to provide people with fresh clean water, not always easy! Shane is best known for starring in the “Alaska: The Last Frontier” series, alongside the rest of the family. He became part of the main cast in 2012, when the second season of the show began airing. Shane met Kelly Ware during his fourth year at high school, and the two began dating before matriculation. They were together for three years before marrying in the summer of 1992.
His wife Kelly is from Anchorage ,Alaska and she continued her education by enrolling at Maric College in 1999, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. The two are parents to four children, named Keena Tarik, Jareth, Reid and Jenna.

Jewel is a singer, songwriter, producer, and an actress among other things, but best known for her songs such as “Who Will Save Your Soul” and “You Were Meant for Me”. When she was born, her father was attending Brigham Young University, and was only two years old when the family moved to live in Alaska. One of the first songs she learned to sing was “Saint Louis Blues”, and seeing her talent, her father got her to sing with him in taverns and roadhouses to make some money. At the age of fifteen, she began taking dancing classes, and eventually won a scholarship at the Interlochen Arts Academy, studying operatic voice.
