Ojani Noa is mostly famous for being the first husband of Jennifer Lopez, who later threatened her with his tell-all memoir book and their sex tape he allegedly wanted to reveal.
Early life and family
Ojani Lazaro Noa was born on 11 June 1974, in Havana Cuba, so his zodiac sign is Gemini. Ojani comes from a family of Spanish-Cuban descent – his father’s name is Francisco Noa. His childhood was quite hard as his family immigrated to the USA, and his parents struggled to find jobs in their new place. Ojani matriculated from the local high school in the US, but he couldn’t continue his education, and had to find a job to support his family.
At a young age, Ojani had to work hard as a waiter.

He also tried himself as a model at the age of 18, but when he was working in the Cuban restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida, owned by Gloria Estefan, he met his future wife Jennifer Lopez. They married in 1997, but divorced a year later. After their divorce Jennifer decided to give Ojani a chance, and asked him to run her Cuban restaurant entitled Madre’s, but he couldn’t perform as she wanted, and he was fired six months after the restaurant opened. He unsuccessfully sued Jennifer for alleged breach of their contract. In 2002 he tried to start an acting career, landing the role of Dan Valdez in “Rappin-n-Rhyming”, then made a cameo appearance in the “Liquid Assets” series in 2003, and was later cast as an Irish Thug in “Irish Eyes” (2004). However, after his loud controversy with his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez in 2006, no one wanted to hire him for the movies as an actor, so he became the executive producer of his own movie entitled “Eye See Me” (2007).
The movie directed by Carlton Enoch featured such actors as Lil’ C Note (as known as Corey Jackson), Matthew Alexander and Leo Solomon, and was quite a success, but Ojani didn’t participate in any more projects, but once appeared in the reality TV show “Supervivientes: Perdidos en Honduras” (eng. “Survivors: Lost in Honduras”) in 2008, and then was the invited guest on the TV channel Telemundo in various talk shows, such as “Un Nuevo Día” and others. As of 2019, he is focused on wellness and fitness, and even appeared in the show “Daily Flash” as an inspirational figure and consultant for people who need to exercise and diet.
Personal life, ex-wife Jennifer Lopez
Ojani met Jennifer Lopez even before her acting career developed. In the period of their first dates Jennifer didn’t even think of becoming a singer, and was mostly focused on dancing and acting.
They met in the cafe where Ojani worked as a waiter, started dating and married on 22 February 1997. After half a year, Jennifer began getting her first good job offers, and Ojani decided that working was her top-priority, while his career didn’t seem likely to become successful in the near future. The couple filed for divorce, and the papers were signed on 1 January 1998. At the end of 1999 Ojani tried to release the film which contained some home-footage and revealed private details about his life with Jennifer, so after the film was released, Ojani was brought to court. Later, in 2007, after their controversy with Ojani’s work in Jennifer’s restaurant, he threatened her with publish his ‘tell-all memoir book’, asking her to pay him $5 million to persuade him not to do so. However, the court made Ojani pay $545,000 to his ex-wife, because of his threats against her.
The judge also ruled against any videos or text information to be published in any form and from any source. It is worth saying that the fact of the sex tape existing is still a mystery, and no one knows for sure if Ojani really possessed one or was just bluffing. No details were ever disclosed, as Ojani had to hand over everything he had about their relationship, including the drafts of his upcoming books, the videos he had, etc.
Ex-girlfriend, Claudia Vazquez
In 2006 Ojani started dating Mexican actress and Telemundo channel producer, Claudia Vazquez. Along with Ed Meyer, Claudia’s business partner, they decided to make-up the TV film entitled “I Owe JLo” about Ojani’s hard way from Cuban immigrant to the husband and then ex-husband of the superstar.

The idea of the movie appeared in 2009, and in 2010 Jennifer took Noa and Meyer to court to stop the production of the film, which could include a lot of private information about her life. At the same time Claudia Vazques sued Jennifer for interference to her business, and asked $10 million as compensation. At first the Los Angeles judge made his decision in favor of Claudia, but the Second District Court of Appeals dismissed the decision.
Another movie Claudia, Ojani and Ed were working on also related to the relationship of Noa and Lopez, and was entitled “How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The JLo and Ojani Noa Story”. However, this project was also destined not to be seen by the audience, as the court ordered Claudia to stop production of any project about Jennifer in 2012. Ojani and Claudia, exhausted by all those courts and legal processes, actually split in 2011.
Is Ojani dating Maria Marin?
As Ojani is now focused on fitness, he often spends time with another TV personality, Maria Marin, with whom he records fitness videos for the morning program of the Telemundo channel. The couple also post a lot of mutual photos and videos on their Instagram accounts. Ojani has shared several pictures of himself and Maria sitting next to each other, laughing and hugging, all in all looking like a happy dating couple. However, neither Maria nor Ojani ever officially confirmed their relationship. Maria is a very popular Telemundo channel’s host and has over two million followers on her Facebook page, as she also hosts her live show onsite entitled “#MariaMarinLive”. She talks a lot about health, fashion, fitness and sex education.
