Who is Ice-T, Letesha’s father?

Tracy Lauren Marrow, who goes by his stage name Ice-T, was born in Newark, New Jersey USA on 16 February 1958 – his birth sign is Aquarius and he holds American nationality.

Ice-T

Ice-T is a rapper, songwriter, actor, and a writer, but best known for his rapping career.

Ice-T was initially raised in Newark by his father Solomon and his mother Alice – Solomon was a conveyor belt mechanic while his mother was a housewife. When Ice-T was four, the family moved to live in Summit, New Jersey – his first contact with racism was at the age of seven and he credits his mother with teaching him how not to allow other people’s negativity to get to him. When he was nine his mother died from a heart attack, and Solomon went on to raise Ice-T on his own.

Two years later, Ice-T’s bicycle was stolen and he stole another person’s bicycle parts as a response, actually assembling three bicycles from these parts. After his father died of a heart attack in 1970, Ice-T lived with his aunt and her husband, before he moved to live in Los Angeles at the age of 14.

Ice-T attended Palms Junior High before switching to Crenshaw High School – he differed from other students in the way that he did not drink alcohol, didn’t smoke nor use drugs.

While there, he began reading novels, and soon got his nickname Ice-T thanks to Iceberg Slim, an author he used to read.

He launched his career as a singer when he joined The Precious Few of Crenshaw High School band – to make money, Ice-T sold marijuana and stole items from cars such as stereos, but it wasn’t enough for him to support himself and his girlfriend, who was pregnant with their daughter Letesha. He joined the Army in 1977 and spent two years in the military, where his interest in rap was born – he was discharged from the Army in 1979 due to being a single father.

He launched his rapping career in 1983, when he recorded his first single “Cold Wind Madness” – it was a major success and another hit single, “Body Rock” followed in the same year. He released his eponymous album “O.G. Original Gangster” with his band Body Count in 1991, which is believed to have set the foundations for gangsta rap. His album “Gangsta Rap” followed in October 2006, then it took him 11 years before he released his next album in 2017, entitled “Bloodlust”.

Ice-T is also an actor, making his debut appearance in the “Breakin’” movie in 1984.

He appeared alongside Denzel Washington in the “Ricochet” movie in 1991, and in the “Surviving the Game” film in 1994. He played a drug dealer named Danny Cort in the “New York Undercover” TV series in 1995, and for his performance was rewarded with an NAACP Image Award for an outstanding supporting actor in a drama series.

Ice-T began dating his second girlfriend, Darlene Ortiz when Letesha was eight years old, and the two had a son together they named Ice Tracy Marrow in 1992 – Ice-T and Darlene Ortiz married in 2002, and their second child, Chanel Nicole Marrow was born in November 2015.
