Tony and his younger sister were raised in Los Angeles by their mother, after their parents divorced when Tony was two years old. Tony became interested in journalism at the age of eight, when he started watching the news with his mother and sister. He matriculated from a local high school in Los Angeles, and then started working two jobs so that he could support his mother and his sister.

It was only in 2002 at the age of 34 that he began studying journalism at Poynter Institute, before switching to Occidental College and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2007.

Career as a journalist

Tony launched his career in broadcasting by working for the PBS News network as an intern, appearing in their hourly news programs while attending the American University’s School of Communication at the same time. He received his Master’s degree in 2009, and then started working for the ABC network in their “Good Morning America” ABC morning show which covers news, weather, and special interest stories. The program also follows pop culture, lifestyle, and entertainment.

She was raised by her father Bob Harris, a retired Lieutenant-Colonel in the US Army and an Army Aviator, and her mother who was a housewife.
