Mimi Ndiweni is a British actress who started her acting career in local theatres, but then switched to TV projects. She is now famous for her landing the role of Fringilla Vigo in the new Netflix series “The Witcher”.
Early life and family
Ntombikayise Mimi Mitchelle Sibonisiwe Mkwananzi Ndiweni was born on 31 August 1991, in London, England, so her zodiac sign is Virgo, and she holds British nationality. Her mother is of British descent, and her father of Zimbabwean ancestry. Mimi is very proud of her family, and often posts photos of her grandparents on her Instagram account, telling the stories of their difficult lives.
Due to her busy schedule she rarely has a chance to see her father, so he once flew to her for only four hours, but Mimi shared that they spent this short period of time with pleasure: ‘Daddy flew out to see me for 4hrs and what a beautiful 4hrs they were. Is it actually possible to love anyone more?’, she wrote on her Instagram in February 2019.

Mimi matriculated from her local high school in 2009, and then enrolled at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, located in Cardiff. She also attended the Mill Studio at The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, Surrey.

In 2013, the year she graduated from her drama college, Mimi was rewarded with the Spotlight Prize for portraying the character of Jenna Marbles in the production of the Royal Shakespeare Company “How to Get Guys to Leave You Alone”. Mimi was only 21 years old, and after her win she officially started working in the theatre. In 2014 she participated in The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of “The Taming of the Shrew”, landing the role of Lucentio and sharing the stage with Katy Stephens who played Petruchio, and Forbes Masson in the role of Katherine.
She also appeared in Jonathan Munby’s production of “Wendy and Peter Pan” in 2105, landing the role of Tiger Lily. Along with Leo Wringer and Adjoa Andoh, Mimi appeared in Roy Williams’ “Soul” (2016), the production of Hackney Empire and Royal & Derngate Northampton, directed by James Dacre. Mimi then portrayed Ester in “The Convert”, a production of the Gate Theatre. She also landed minor roles in such productions as King Lear (2013) and Hamlet (2018).
Movie and television career
Mimi felt interest for TV and movie projects in 2015, when she landed her first role of Slipper Lady in “Cinderella” (2015), sharing the screen with Lily James and Cate Blanchett.
Then she landed the role of Eshe in “The Legend of Tarzan” (2016), also appeared as TV News Anchor in “The Last Dragonslayer” (2016), and in the role of DC Andrea Reed in “Rellik”, a mini-series aired in 2017. She also played episodic roles in “Mr Selfridge” (2013 – 2016) and “Doctor Who” (2005 – present). Fringilla Vigo in “The Witcher”
In 2019 Mimi was cast as the Nilfgaardian sorceress named Fringilla Vigo. She appeared in seven of nine episodes of the shows first season, and is also filming in the second season.
According to the plot, Fringilla was to become the adviser of King Virfuril of Aedirn, while Yennefer was supposed to go to Nilfgaard. However, Yennefer did not agree with such a decision of their rectoress, Tissaia de Vries. She appeared at the ball after her transformation and discarded Fringilla, taking over King Virfuril. According to the plot of the book series, Fringilla seduced Geralt when he and Jaskier stayed at Duchess Anna Henrietta’s castle, but even during their intimacy Geralt named her ‘Yennefer’, so Fringilla understood she had no chance of keeping the witcher by her side.
