Early life and education
Damon grew up in the US, raised by his mother who was a housewife, and his father who was a police officer. He attended a local high school, where he first came to realize that he was gay, but still kept this to himself for fear of being rejected by his friends as well as his family. After matriculation, he enrolled at Brown University, and graduated in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in arts and English literature.
He continued his education at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in New York City, from which he obtained his clinical psychology doctorate.
Career as a psychologist
Damon launched his career as a psychologist shortly after graduating, and began working at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital in New York. From there, he worked at Columbia University Medical Center before switching to New York Presbyterian Hospital, and eventually to the Addiction Institute of New York. Damon has worked at several other places over the course of years, such as Bellevue Hospital, Polytechnic Institute of New York University College Counseling Center, as well as New York Foundling Hospital.
Today, Damon is a respected clinical psychologist who is living and working in Manhattan, New York City. He is specialized in working with people suffering from depression and anxiety, those who have problems in their relationships and marriage, as well as those with addiction to drugs and alcohol. He is also known to be working with people who have human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). He occasionally does group therapies with some of his patients.

They were in a relationship for around two years before marrying in 2009, at a small ceremony held at their home in Connecticut, which only their closest friends and family attended. Both Clinton and Damon are busy due to their demanding careers, but still find time to spend together, and as they are both keen on travelling, they often spend their holidays at attractive, remote or exotic locations.
