Megan grew up in a sports-oriented family, and followed several professional leagues during her youth. She grew up with a sister who would play college basketball. She attended high school in Moorsetown, New Jersey where the family would settle after their stay in Fairfax. During her time there, she discovered her talent in playing lacrosse, joining the school team. In 2003 and 2004, she was named to the All-American team in US Lacrosse, which led to numerous universities offering her a scholarship to play with them.
She eventually settled with the University of Virginia, becoming a team member of a well-known lacrosse team in the collegiate circuit. UVA was founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson, and is the flagship university of the state. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site with numerous historical foundations, which have been preserved and retained. They offer over 100 , and many of their alumni would go on to create numerous high profile companies such as Reddit. They also have several high profile athletic teams, which are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and have won titles in basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and tennis.
Husband – Chris Long
Chris is the son of former professional American Football player and NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long. He grew up alongside two brothers, who would also pursue careers in the sport. He attended St. Anne’s-Bellfield School, and during his time there established his potential in playing football, helping his team to the state championship with an undefeated record. This led Rivals to rank him a four-star for college recruitment, and the sixth best defensive end in the pool. He also played basketball, baseball and lacrosse during this time.
After matriculating from high school, he signed with the University of Virginia, where he played from 2004 to 2007 while studying for a degree in sociology. After a rough first year, he became the leading all Virginia defensive lineman as a sophomore. This streak continued through to his third year, as he became the team captain, and ranked fourth among ACC defensive linemen. He was a finalist for the Dudley Award, and was recognized as a unanimous First-team All-American during his senior year.

He entered his final college season under the watch lists of numerous awards, and won the 2007 Hendricks Awards which is given to the country’s top defensive end.
Chris Long’s NFL Career
In 2008, Long joined the NFL draft and was picked as the second overall selection by the St. Louis Rams. He soon showed his ability to play multiple positions, and was even considered for a starter role in defense, one that he rejected as he felt the need to earn his position. He was signed to a $56.5 million contract for six years, and started gaining attention as a rookie.
He became a defensive end as the years progressed ,was voted for numerous honors. In 2012, he signed a four year extension with the Rams worth $50 million, and led the team in several statistics once more. He was voted to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career and was named to the USA Football All-Fundamental Team. He scored his first NFL goal in 2013 and continued with strong performances, however, the following year he suffered an ankle injury that left him out for most games.
He was released by the team in 2016, and went to the New England Patriots, helping the team win a Super Bowl title. After his contract there ended, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and helped them win the next Super Bowl, making him one of the few players to win consecutive Super Bowls with different teams. He announced his retirement in 2019.
In 2013, Megan married Chris in a ceremony held in Charlottesville, Virginia. The two met while students at the University of Virginia, and they’ve been together since; they now have two children together.
The couple spend some of their free time in charitable endeavors, as her husband launched The Chris Long Foundation, which raises money to help build wells in East Africa for the communities there. He’s been known for his charity during his playing career, even donating his entire season’s salary to charities at one point. He is also a big advocate for providing children free education.
