Early life, family, educational background
Amelia Rose Blair was born on 20 November 1987, in New York, USA, but grew up in Los Angeles, and still lives there, pursuing her acting career. As a young girl, Amelia had a passion for ballet and dreamed of pursuing it as her career. She discovered a love for acting after appearing in her high school’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie” as a Vaudeville dancer.
She started taking classes at The Sanford Meisner Center for the Arts in Los Angeles, California, from the age of fifteen. Amelia found that the adult courses would be more beneficial to her than those in her age group, and the center made an exception for her as she was not yet eighteen. She completed their two-year program, after which she spent a summer in London with the British American Drama Academy where she studied Shakespeare.
After London, Amelia started working with Oscar-nominated actress Lindsay Crouse, who guided her to New York City’s Atlantic Theater Company founded by William H. Macy and David Mamet. Here Amelia graduated from their two-year conservatory program, and went on to take master classes at Atlantic’s Los Angeles branch, with Clark Gregg, Camryn Manheim, Felicity Huffman and David Mamet himself.
Family’s personal life
Amelia hasn’t mentioned her parents’ names, but she did post a picture of her sister and herself dancing with their dad on Twitter on Father’s Day 2018. She revealed that her sister’s name is Natasha, and posted a picture of them for International Sibling Day in 2019, with the caption ‘Happy #InternationalSiblingsDay. So grateful for my angel Natasha. Two peas in a pod of sister love.’
The two sisters attended the Youth for Human Rights International Celebrity Benefit in 2014 together. It is not known if Natasha is younger or older than Amelia, and if she has any other siblings.
Career
After graduating, Amelia began by acting in several theatre productions. She then appeared as a guest on various TV shows, such as “Drop Dead Diva” (2010), “Grimm” (2011), “Royal Pains” (2012), “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2013), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2015), and “Criminal Minds” (2016) to name a few. Amelia starred in the movie “Commencement” which was filmed in 2012, but was only released on 26 April 2014 at the “Newport Beach International Film Festival,” after which it made the festival rounds. She played Christa Richmond, one of the lead roles.
Her first role that gained the public’s attention was that of Willa Burrell in the HBO television series “True Blood.” She appeared in the sixth and seventh seasons of the show, debuting on the 2013 episode “The Sun”, and it was announced in August 2013 that she was to become a series regular. Her character is a vampire and the daughter of Vamp Camp owner and Louisiana Governor, Truman Burrell. Amelia appeared in twenty episodes, and her last appearance was in the series’ finale entitled “Thank You”, aired in 2014.
In 2015, she joined the cast of the MTV television series “Scream” in their first season, playing the recurring role of the main antagonist, Piper Shaw (previously known as Piper Anderson James).
The television show is based on the horror-film franchise of the same name, and has three seasons so far, but Amelia’s character was killed-off at the end of season one. In 2016, she lent her voice to the character of Amy Ferraro for the video game “Quantum Break.”
Amelia voiced and acted for the female Traci androids at the Eden Club in the 2018 game, “Detroit: Become Human.” The appearances of the brown-haired Traci, the blue-haired Traci and version WR400 Traci were all based on Amelia’s physical appearance.
