Who is Martin Sensmeier?
American actor and model Martin Sensmeier was born in Anchorage, Alaska USA, on 27 June 1985, making Cancer his zodiac sign. He has 29 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Red Harvest in the critically acclaimed 2016 action adventure movie “The Magnificent Seven”, which starred Chris Pratt and Denel Washington, and was directed by Antoine Fuqua. It follows seven gunmen who’ve been hired by a young widow to protect her small town from a destructive industrialist, and the movie won five of its 17 award nominations.
Martin’s currently shooting for four upcoming movies, including “Wind River: Rising”, “Takeover” and “Dream”.
Education and early life
Martin was raised an only child in Yakutat, Alaska by his German-Tlingit father Raymond Sensmeier and Koyukon-Athabascan mother Eva Sensmeier; Martin identifies as Native Alaskan.
He studied at a local high school in Yakutat, and was into a couple of activities during his teenage years; he enjoyed playing a number of sports with his peers, including football and basketball, and appeared in a couple of school plays.
Martin matriculated in 2002, and because he’s yet to speak about his further education, it’s believed that he hasn’t attended college. Prior to launching his career in the film industry 12 years later, Martin worked as a welder on an oil rig, employed by Doyon Drilling.
Roles in movies
Martin’s debut film role was playing Tintah in the 2014 short action “K’ina Kil: The Slaver’s Son”, and the year 2016 saw him portray the lead character Wolf in the thriller “Lilin’s Brood”, which also starred Maxine Goynes and Melinda Miamor, and was written and directed by Artii Smith and P. W. Simon; it follows a news coverage team who’ve become stranded in the middle of nowhere, with only a mysterious brothel in sight.
Martin played Chip in the critically acclaimed 2017 crime mystery “Wind River”, which starred Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, and was written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. The movie follows the life of a wildlife officer, and won 15 of its 40 award nominations. Some of Martin’s following roles were in the 2018 mystery science fiction horror “Perfect”, the mystery science fiction thriller “Beyond the Sky”, and the drama “Spare Room”, all released in 2018.
He voiced Johnny Cloud in the 2021 short animated adventure “DC Showcase: The Losers”, and the same year saw him play Cody Mantooth in the action adventure thriller “The Ice Road”, which starred Marcus Thomas and Liam Neeson, and was written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh. It follows an ice road driver who’s embarked on a mission over a frozen lake to rescue a group of miners who became trapped following the collapse of a remote diamond mine – the movie was nominated for two awards.
Martin’s three most recent movie roles have been in the short animated drama “Night of the Cooters” (voice role) and the western “The Last Manhunt” both in 2022, and the 2023 drama “Frybread Face and Me”.
Roles in TV series
Martin’s debut TV series role was playing Mohawk in three episodes of the 2014 fantasy horror “Salem”, which starred Shane West and Janet Montgomery, and was created by Adam Simon and Brannon Braga. It follows the lives of witches in 17th century Salem, the series aired from 2014 through 2017, and was nominated for 14 awards.
From 2016 through 2018, Martin played Wanahton in five episodes of the hit mystery science fiction “Westworld”, while some of his following roles were playing Martin in five episodes of the 2019 western “Yellowstone”, Reginald Waters in the 2020 episode “Ghosts” of the crime action “FBI: Most Wanted”, and also in 2020 voicing Sergeant Samuel Coldfoot in all four episodes of the animated action mini-series “The Liberator” (lead role).
In 2022, Martin played Sam in three episodes of the popular western mini-series “1883”, which starred Tim McGraw and Sam Elliott, and was created by Taylor Sheridan. It follows the Dutton family as they’re settling in Montana and establishing the Yellowstone Ranch; the mini-series won five of its 23 award nominations.
Martin went on to play Ray in two episodes of the 2022 comedy “Rutherford Falls”, Ken in the 2022 episode “Unlord the Land” of the drama “Normal Ain’t Normal”, and Taamet in five episodes of the 2023 mystery science fiction “La Brea”.
His only other TV series role has been playing Jindahaa Twitchell in four episodes of the 2023 drama “Alaska Daily”, which starred Jeff Perry and Hilary Swank, and was created by Tom McCarthy. It follows a journalist who’s begun working for a newspaper in Alaska, and the series was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama for Hilary Swank.
Other credits
Martin sang the song “Stand Up” in the 2017 movie “Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World”.
He produced the 2022 short animated film “Night of the Cooters”.

Love life and relationships
Martin prefers not to share the details of his love life with his fans, but it’s known that he’s been in a long-term relationship with American non-celebrity Kahara Hodges since the second half of the 2010s.
Kahara’s a singer and model, and it’s believed that she’s recently launched her career in the film industry as well, but this hasn’t been confirmed; more than 35,000 people are today following her on Instagram, and she’s posted over 330 pictures and videos onto the network. Kahara gave birth to her and Martin’s son in 2020, but his name and exact birthdate have been kept a secret; the boy can still be seen featured in some of their Instagram content.
There are no other women whom Martin’s perhaps been with, that we know about; he’s in a long-term relationship with Kahara Hodges as of July 2023, hasn’t married and has a son with Kahara.

A few over 95,000 people are following Martin on Instagram today, even though he’s posted only 15 pictures onto the network; most of these show him spending time with his partner Kahara, shooting for his movies and TV series, and playing sports.
He’s a huge lover of animals and has a pet dog.
Martin enjoys being physically active and has been working out at the gym since the age of 16. He occasionally gives his fans advice on working out on his social media accounts, while he also occasionally writes about proper diet plans.
