Early life, family, educational background
Tessa Netting was born on 1 September 1990, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA, to her father David, and mother, Leslie – she has a sister, Kelsey. She has not opened up about her education or childhood, but both sisters grew up passionate about ballet, and Kelsey now dances professionally; she is also a health specialist.
Career
From a young age, Tessa would sing and dance at Dance One Studios, owned by her mother. Her acting career began on stage until she moved to Los Angeles, and appeared in “Fred: The Show,” an episode of “Glee,” a handful of advertisements, and performed some voiceover projects.

Theater
Her love for musical theater began when she played the lead role in “Seussical,” in her school’s production during her freshman year. A year later she performed in “Mrs Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge” at Bristol Riverside Theater. In November 2007, without an agent or Equity card, she went to the open call for “Billy Elliot the Musical,” and after five callbacks she was cast as Susan Parks, one of the eleven original ballet girls in the production, booking a role coveted by more than 1500 girls.
Knowing this would set-off her career, Tessa dropped out of her senior school year, and moved to New York City from Pennsylvania. “Billy Elliot the Musical” won ten Tony awards, allowing Tessa’s name to get known in the theater industry, and helping her gain experience, performing for two and a half years on stage as Susan, over one thousand times. The production’s cast and crew often became involved with Broadway Cares Equality Fights AIDS, a charity organization.
Television, Voice-acting and Movies
She joined the mainstream entertainment industry when she moved to Los Angeles in early 2013.
She made an appearance in season 4, episode 11 of “Glee”, with her friend Joey Ritcher, who played Ronald Weasley in the theater production of “A Very Potter Musical.” Her next major role was as Hazel Swearengen in Disney Channel’s “Bunk’d” from 2015 to 2016, actually playing a character who is a whole decade younger than her. Afterwards, she booked roles in television series including “Chapters of Horror,” “1 Minute Horror,” “Buffering”, and as Eloise in “Fred: The Show.” During that time, she also took voiceover roles, and appeared in commercials.
YouTube
In December 2010, she started her now self-titled YouTube channel – it was initially named tessaROXX – where the proud Ravenclaw mainly posts Harry Potter themed videos.
She displays a variety of different content on her channel, quizzes, tags, make-up and hair tutorials, unboxing Harry Potter products and loads more. Her first video, “HELLO-Harry Potter Book of Mormon Parody” went viral, and was subsequently featured on several shows and in popular magazines, including “Forbes,” “Huffington” and “NY Magazine.”
Through her channel, she has worked with brands such as Eva Hair, Box Lunch Gifts, LeeLo Jewellery and Lumos Organization, which is a Harry Potter related company. On 27 February 2019, Hot Topic sponsored a trip for Tessa and other online influencers to attend the movie premiere of “Captain Marvel,” and gifted them with Captain Marvel-inspired jackets.
Touring and Hosting
Tessa has performed comedy sketches on an American tour. She has dabbled in some online work, including, Skybound’s “Nerd Court” and Fine Brothers’ “Inappropriate Parents.” Her hosting gigs include Eli Roth’s Crypt TV, DreamWorks TV, AwesomenessTV as well as a YouTube show, “The Daily RHash.”

Tessa hosts a podcast called “Fantastic Geeks” with best friend and fellow YouTuber, Anna Brisbin, which is a play on “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” a film in the Harry Potter series.
Tessa and Anna discuss movies, television shows, books, animation and pop culture on their podcast. A fan-favorite game that the two play on their podcast is sorting non-Harry Potter-related characters into Hogwarts houses. Anna’s YouTube channel is called Brizzy Voices.
Personal life
Tessa is in a relationship with the musician, Joe Moses. For three years they were in a long-distance relationship while she was living in Los Angeles, and Joe was studying Law at the University of Michigan. On 11 March 2019, Tessa announced that she would be taking a break from social media, but still uploading YouTube videos.

She wanted time off to travel with Joe in celebration of him graduating from Law school, and the end of them having to date long-distance. On 16 March 2019, they became engaged after dating for seven years – Joe took three months to gchoose the perfect ring for Tessa, made by Sophia and Quentin. He designed a Harry Potter-inspired ring which had the Deathly Hallows symbol in the band of the ring. To celebrate their engagement, the couple went touring around Europe, including Scotland, England, Netherland, France and Belgium.
