Who is Stephanie Szostak?
Born on 12 June 1975, in Paris, France, under the air sign of Gemini, Stephanie Szostak (pronounced as “show-stack”) is a 44-year-old French actress who rose to prominence in the early 2000s. She is best known for her appearances in box office hits such as “Iron Man 3”, “The Devil Wears Prada”, “Dinner for Schmucks” and others. Since she took up acting as a full-time job in 2003, she has slowly worked her way up to become one of the most popular foreign actresses on American soil. Before acting, her mind was set on becoming a professional golfer, as well as pursuing a career in marketing.
Early Life and Education: From France to the USA
Stephanie Szostak was born into a French family and grew up in the suburbs of the country’s capital, Paris. There is no conclusive information about her parents nor about the majority of her childhood. This is a clear sign that Stephanie is a dedicated professional and that she doesn’t want her private life interfering with her career. When she was a young girl, she didn’t even consider becoming an actress, as her sights were set on becoming a professional golfer, practicing the sport from an early age, and competing in youth tournaments all over France. Encouraged by her success, she decided that moving to the US would be the best way to fulfill her dreams of becoming a professional golfer. Therefore, she enrolled at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia to study Marketing and play varsity golf. However, by her freshman year, Stephanie had become completely devoted to her major, and realized that there was just no use in trying to become a professional golfer anymore. In 1998, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Marketing.
Career Beginnings: Chanel, Modelling and a Class That Would Change Her Life
Upon graduating Stephanie moved to New York City – with excellent grades and a few internships under her belt, she was ready to move to the biggest city on the East Coast and conquer the world of marketing. Shortly upon arrival, she applied for a marketing position at Chanel and got the job. This was a big opportunity for the young Frenchwoman, who has always been an avid fashion aficionado. She found her place with Chanel pretty quickly, and managed to accomplish a lot in her first months at the company. However, in 2001 when she was 26 years-old, Chanel’s executives fell in love with her style and pizzazz, which prompted them to ask her to model for an in-house brochure. She took a leap of faith and made her modeling debut. The news about Stephanie’s endeavors spread like wildfire, prompting important names in fashion to take notice. In 2003, she took an acting class and immediately fell in love with the profession. Using her connections and an insatiable thirst to succeed, it wasn’t long before Stephanie started landing roles.
Staring Her Acting Career In Style: From French and Ukranian Movies to Meryl Streep
Stephanie’s first two acting credits were in “Si’ Laraby”, an independent French movie, and “Zimove Vesilya” (or “Snowblink”, in English). The second movie is a Ukranian take on an old short story by Gabriel Garcia Marques, a Colombian writer who founded the sub-genre of magic realism. It tells the tale of a young French couple going on honeymoon to Ukraine and being stuck in a snowstorm. Neither movies made a big splash, but they showed the industry that Stephanie meant business and that was determined to become a star. After appearing as Ro Mars in “Satellite” in 2005, and winning the award for Best Actress at the Bend Film Festival, Stephanie was ready for bigger and better things. 2006 was her breakout year, during which she appeared in “Casa Bella”, “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Sopranos”. Her role in “The Devil Wears Prada”, alongside Meryl Streep, made her a household name and opened up a myriad of opportunities for her future in acting.
Continued Success: The Good Heart, Dinner For Schmucks and Iron Man 3
After 2006, she moderated the frequently of her appearances, instead picking her roles more carefully, and investing her money. In 2009, we saw her in “The Good Heart”, “Motherhood” and “The Rebound”, but her biggest hits came in the 2010s, in “Dinner for Schmucks”, reprising the role of Julie in this hit comedy, and meshing quite well with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd and their unique comedic style. The movie was relatively popular upon its release, albeit critics didn’t quite laud the work of director Jay Roach, and praise for the film mostly revolved around Stephanie’s acting. This allowed her to take on more prominent roles, such as those in “We Bought a Zoo” and “Gimme Shelter”. Even though she was a Frenchwoman, she would change accents seamlessly throughout the course of one movie, impressing everyone. In “Iron Man 3”, she took on the part of Ellen Brandt, making it the biggest and most successful movie she had appeared in. She took on a few smaller parts afterwards, but today she plays the lead role in “A Million Little Things”, drawing praise from critics and fans alike.
