Early life and education
Ruby was partially raised in Camden by her father Paul Bentall, an actor, and her mother Janine Duvitski who is an actress best known for portraying Jane Edwards in “Waiting for God” and Pippa Trench in “One Foot in the Grave”.
When Ruby was eight, her family moved to Petersham in south-west London, where she attended Grey Court School, and then enrolled at Richmond-upon-Thames College, matriculating with a BTEC National Diploma in performance.
Ruby and her three siblings Jack, Albert, and Edith occasionally kept their parents’ company on the sets of movies and TV series they were appearing in, and this is how Ruby became interested in acting. Besides her siblings, she also has two older half-siblings from her father’s former marriage. Edith, Ruby’s younger sister, is a singer and the founder of the FOURS band.
Movie appearances
Ruby appeared in two short films in 2009, entitled “The Alchemistic Suitcase” and “Exposed”, and then went on to star in several feature films, the first being “Tormented” in which she played Emily in 2009. In 2010, she was cast to portray Margaret Walter’s Maid in the “Robin Hood” action drama history film which stars Russell Crowe, and follows Robin in 12th century England as he, with the help of his band of marauders, fights corruption in a local town and leads an uprising against the crown. Her latest appearances in films have been in “The Personal History of David Copperfield” in 2019, and in “Misbehaviour” which is yet to be released.

Ruby made her debut TV series appearance in 2006 while still attending college, appearing in a single episode of “Holby City”. The next year, she won roles in three series which are “You Can Choose Your Friends”, “Doctors”, and “Oliver Twist” while one of her most notable roles came in 2008, when she was invited to portray Mary Bennet in “Lost in Austen”, appearing in four episodes of this miniseries, which follows Amanda living in present day London with her boyfriend Michael, and finding out she’s swapped places with Elizabeth Bennet, Jane Austen’s fictional creation.
Ruby won her first TV series regular role in “Lark Rise to Candleford”, in which she portrayed Minnie Mude from 2009 to 2011, and was then invited to portray a regular character Pauline in “The Paradise” in 2012, which follows a young man who is working in a department store. She was a member of the main cast in “Poldark”, portraying Verity Poldark from 2015 to 2018 and in the same year she won this role, she appeared in 10 episodes of “Jekyll and Hyde” as Hilary ‘Hils’ Barnstaple. Two of Ruby’s most recent appearances have been in “Holby City” and “Midsomer Murders” both in 2018.
Love life and boyfriend
Ruby has been keeping her love life away from the spotlight, but was rumored to be seeing Richard Harrington in 2015 after the two starred together in the “Poldark” TV series. However, as Richard is a married man with two children, he addressed the public, and stated that the two are only colleagues actors and that nothing untoward has been going on between them.
Conversely, as Ruby hasn’t talked about any past affairs, rumors began circulating the internet that the popular actress is lesbian, as she was apparently seen being very close to Olivia Hallinan, her friend and actress who starred alongside her in the “Lark Rise to Candleford” TV series.

Hobbies and other interests
Ruby is very keen on history and enjoys reading about countries’ histories as well as visiting historical places, such as the house in which Anne Frank was hiding during World War II. She has her own favorites when it comes to actors and actresses, who are Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, and Katherine Waterston, while some of her favorite movies are “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them”, “Avatar”, and “12 Angry Men”. Ruby enjoys spending her free time with her parents, and visits them whenever she can.
