Childhood and education

Although born in the US, Rory’s family moved to live in England before he turned two years as his father won a job there, however, not much about his parents is known to the public, as both his mother Nicki Cochrane and his father prefer to stay away from media attention. As Rory hasn’t mentioned having any brothers or sisters, he’s considered to be an only child.

By the time Rory returned to the US, he was already a big fan of the film industry, and his dream was to one day become a popular actor. He enrolled at a high school in New York, and studied drama at the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts. After he matriculated, Rory completely focused on his career as an actor and didn’t enroll at college.

Career of an actor

Rory had his first role in a 1989 short documentary movie about narcotics, and then appeared in a single episode of the “H.E.L.P.” TV series in the following year – in the same year, he had his first role in a full-length movie, entitled “A Kiss Before Dying”.

Rory secured a couple of other roles during the next three years, but none of which made him popular – it was his role of Ron Slater in the “Dazed and Confused” movie shot in 1993 that made him somewhat famous. The movie rated in third spot on the ’50 Best High School Movies’ list compiled by the popular “Entertainment Weekly” magazine. Being praised for his performance, Rory went on with more roles which expanded his fan base – he played Billy Mack in the “Love and a .45” movie in 1994, and then appeared alongside the popular actor Bruce Willis in the movie “Hart’s War”.

In 2006, Rory played Brad in the “Right at Your Door” movie, and was cast as Charles Freck in “A Scanner Darkly” in the same year. He appeared in six episodes of “The Company” TV series in 2007, and then in seven episodes of the “24” TV series in 2009 – in the same year, he played Agent Carter Baum in the “Public Enemies” movie. Rory was praised for his role of Lee Schatz in the “Argo” movie shot in 2012, which gained him several award nominations, while the movie itself won two awards – new roles followed as Rory appeared in the “Parkland” movie shot in 2013, then “Oculus” in 2014, and “Black Mass” in 2015.

Love life and relationships

Rory prefers to keep his personal matters to himself but some things related to his dating history of are known. The first of Rory’s relationships which the public knows about was with Renee Zellweger, an actress with whom he played alongside in several movies, including “Empire Records”, “Dazed and Confused”, and “Love and a .45”. Rory then dated actress Joey Lauren Adams after the two met on the set of the “Dazed and Confused” movie.

Rumor had it that the popular actor had exchanged wedding vows with a woman named Rebecca Columbus in 1988, however, Rory addressed the rumors saying that he’d never even heard of the woman, let alone married her. Rory has been in a relationship with a girl named Tracy Zahoryin for several years now, as they were first noticed going out together in 2013. While neither Rory nor Tracy have openly talked about their relationship, they often uploaded pictures of them together onto their Instagram accounts, and were often seen attending live music events –in Victoria, Texas on 8 April 2018. It doesn’t appear as the two are planning on exchanging their wedding vows or starting a family anytime soon, as they are both focused on their careers.

Hobbies and other interests

Rory might be concentrating on his acting career, but there are still a couple of other things he is good at, and enjoys doing in his spare time. Rory’s number one passion is travelling and he credits this to the big move his family made to England when he was still very young. He has travelled all around Europe, including Iceland, Italy, Norway and Germany, and has also around a big part of the US.

He’s a huge fan of parties, and enjoys going to clubs and drinking. He prefers motorcycles over cars, and rides an expensive Ducati bike, and spent a lot of time travelling on it.
