Misty Raney was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 9 November 1981, in Sitka, Alaska USA, so holds American nationality. She is the second daughter of Marty Raney and Mollee Roestel; Misty’s siblings are named Miles, Melanie and Matthew – all names start with M, as Marty and Mollee decided that it would unite their kids and make them feel even closer to each other, being part of a big family. Melanie is the oldest daughter in the family, and she was born literally in the middle of nowhere, so Marty and Mollee had to wait for a long time to get some help, as they thought the baby had problems with breathing.

Born in 1957, in North Bend, Washington State, Marty always had a passion for living close to nature. He insists that he left his high school when he was only 16 years old to move to Alaska, and staying there for 40 years before he left for another place for a break. He started his own business in the snows of Alaska entitled “Alaska Stone and Log”, and has spent his life in the severe weather conditions, proving to himself that he can survive all the difficulties as they are all indeed natural. Marty married Mollee Roastel in 1974, whom he met on one of his expeditions, and the couple is still living together in their cabin in Sitka.
Mollee has Type 1 Diabetes, so has their younger son, Matt. In 2016 the Discovery channel got in touch with Marty to suggest starting the show about his living in the 100-year-old house. The show was launched on 17 June 2016, and Season 12 is expected to air in 2024.

As with all the family, Misty is an experienced constructor and farmer, and an experienced mountaineer, with a certificate which says that she’s a licensed mountain guide. The family praises her logical skills, as Misty is a great co-ordinator. She is also aware of water and air pollution, and does her best to explain to kids the importance of cleanliness in the environment. She is good at building smokers and greenhouses and she also builds excellent enclosures for cattle to protect them from predators.

Appearing in the TV reality show “Homestead Rescue”, Misty shares her knowledge of multiple methods of gathering food in the wild, preserving and canning it for a long period of time (at least a year), and she is also famous for knowing several methods of turning waste into useful compost fertilizers. Misty has proved her fishing and hunting skills too, joining a moose hunt in one of the episodes of the show. ‘I love to swing a hammer, and to construct things from a few simple materials. Misty met her future husband, Maciah Bilodeau, around 20 years ago – they’ve been together since 2000, but the date of their wedding is unknown. The couple gave birth to their yet single child on 14 April 2011, named Gauge. Maciah is an experienced farmer, but also very good at surfing and constantly teaches their son how to surf – Misty is also a passionate surfer. The Bilodeaus spend summer in Alaska to help the family with the stock, collecting the food and hunting, and then relocate to their house in Hawaii to spend the winter season.

Misty has a strong passion for singing, just like her father, Marty. He’s famous for climbing to the top of the Denali mountain and performing his own songs there. Among his hits are such songs as “You Never Wrote”, “Alaska Tattooed Lady” and “I’ve Been Everywhere”. She spends a lot of time doing useful things for her family in and around their homestead, but whenever she has some spare time, she spends it with her family, traveling, swimming or just relaxing at the beaches of Hawaii. Her favorite alcoholic drink is beer.
