Early life and education
Millicent was raised in Bountiful, Utah where she is currently living with her parents and her two older and two younger siblings. When she was just one year old, she suffered from a medication overdose, and complications caused her to lose her hearing.
To show support and help Millicent, her mother learned American Sign Language, and then taught the rest of the family so that they could communicate with Millicent. She was only three years old when her parents enrolled her at Jean Massieu School of the Deaf, where she made her first contact with acting, becoming a member of the school’s drama club. She enrolled at Mueller Park Junior High School in March 2015, where she is currently studying.
Millicent is wearing a cochlear implant, which is a surgically implanted neuro-prosthetic device.
Career as an actress
Millicent launched her career as an actress when she performed at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, while she made her debut film appearance in the “Color the World” deaf student’s short film.
Millicent doesn’t have many roles credited to her name, but she has been nominated for more than ten awards for her performances. She gained recognition after she was cast to portray Rose in the “Wonderstruck” mystery drama film in 2017, which follows two stories set fifty years apart, each telling of a child’s quest.

In 2019, she appeared in the “Wanted a Name” music video by Frenship and in the same year portrayed Emmaline in an episode of the “This Close” TV series.
Millicent has recently been cast to portray Regan Abbott once more, in the “A Quiet Place: Part II” movie set to be released in 2020.

Millicent is only 16 and it appears that she hasn’t been in a single relationship to this day, but some of her fans have noticed that the popular actress is very close to Oakes Fergley, who starred alongside her in the “Wonderstruck” movie in 2017. The two could have been seen spending a lot of time together, while they were also caught holding hands but being as young as they are – he’s 15 – it turned out they were only good friends.

In an interview with the silgentgrapvine website, Emily explained that Millicent is the only deaf person in the family, that she (Emily) had a deaf aunt and that nobody knew how to talk to her, which is why Emily did not want for her daughter to feel abandoned and lonely, thus learning sign language.

Millicent enjoys watching movies and TV series with her mother in their spare time, and her favorite actor and actress are Ryan O’Neal and Madeline Kahn, while her favorite movies are “The Truman Show”, “Paper Moon”, and “Dear John”.
Millicent found out she was very good at drawing at the age of six, and has been drawing to this day – some of the things she has drawn over the years can be seen uploaded onto her Instagram account.
