Who is Mary Katharine Ham?

Mary was born in Montgomery, Alabama USA, on 5 April 1980 – her zodiac sign is Taurus, and she holds American nationality. She’s a journalist who has worked for some of the most popular TV networks in the USA, including Fox News and CN. Today she’s working for the conservative online magazine “The Federalist” as a senior writer, and is also a contributing editor for the conservative website “Townhall Magazine”.

Early life and education

Mary was raised in Montgomery alongside her two brothers, by their father Jon Ham who was the vice president of John Locke Foundation, and from February 2005 up to his retirement in August 2016 worked as the publisher of “Carolina Journal”; Jon spent 19 years working for the newspaper “The Herald-Sun”, four as director of digital publishing, and the other 15 as managing director. Mary’s mother is a housewife, and prefers to stay away from the media’s attention.

Mary studied at Riverside High School, and was interested in numerous activities during her four years there.

She was asked by one of her teachers to contribute to the school magazine, which was how her interest in journalism was born; she also practiced acting with the school’s drama club, playing supporting characters in many school plays, and was also into playing sports, excelling in volleyball.

Upon matriculating in 1998, Mary enrolled at Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication, and two years later transferred to the University of Georgia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in newspaper journalism in 2002.

Career as a journalist

Following graduation, Mary began writing for the American newspaper “Richmond County Daily Journal”, which is published in Rockingham, Richmond County, North Carolina.

She became a columnist and managing editor at Townhall.com in 2004, and then also wrote columns for the American conservative news website The Washington Examiner. Mary gained recognition after her video blog series “HamNation” was shown on Townhall.com, which won her an Institute for Politics, Democracy & the Internet Golden Dot Award for Best Vlog of 2006, while the series’ video “Sopranos” was named ‘Video of the Year’ at the 2007 Weblog Awards.

Mary joined the FM radio station WMAL in 2008 and hosted her own show “The Morning Majority” between 5 and 9 a.m. on workdays, moving to Washington D.C. for the job, which she held until 5 March 2012.

In 2014, Mary was presented with an American Conservative Union Award for Blogger of the Year at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

She’s also an author, having published her book “End of Discussion: How the Left’s Outrage Industry Shuts Down Debate, Manipulates Voters, and Makes America Less Free (and Fun)” in 2015; it covers the now-former US President Donald Trump’s run for president, as well as an attempt to silence free speech in America.

Mary’s highly active on Instagram, and seems to be enjoying the attention which she’s today receiving from her close to 50,000 followers, while she’s uploaded nearly 3,000 pictures and videos onto the network, most of which have been taken during her everyday life, and thus reveal a lot about her. She launched her Twitter account in April 2007 and it’s today followed by more than 250,000 people, while Mary has tweeted over 50,000 times, to keep her fans updated with the latest news.

Mary’s also active on Facebook, and her page numbers close to 50,000 fans, which she tends to update it weekly, with similar content as onto her Instagram account.

Mary doesn’t have her own TikTok account although many videos featuring her have been uploaded onto the network by other users, and these have been watched over 500,000 times.

Love life and husband

Mary prefers not to share the details of her love life with her fans, but it’s still known that she’s married twice. She exchanged vows with her first husband, Jacob Brewer in 2011, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; Jacob was a White House aide, liberal commentator and immigration activist. Mary gave birth to their daughter in 2013, but on 19 September 2015, Jacob was involved in a bicycle accident and died from the  injuries he sustained; Mary gave birth to their second daughter a month after Jacob’s death.

She married for the second time on 7 March 2020, but has only revealed his first name – name – but not his profession, with Mary only stating that he ‘has no social media presence’. They have one child together.
