Professional Career

In October 2011, Aleksander Barkov made his playing debut as a part of the Tappara team in SM-Liiga. Being just 16 years old at the time, it made him the youngest player of the league to score a point. Although he suffered a shoulder injury in the next season and missed the playoffs, Aleksander was selected in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft as the 2^nd overall pick by the Florida Panthers of the NHL.
