At the time he became addicted to alcohol and drugs, and even ended up homeless, living on the street of Anacortes for about two years. Although it took him a long time to accept that he would never be able to be a skateboarder, Jake eventually adapted and started pursuing a fishing career in Kodiak, Alaska. Fortunately, he has been sober since 2014, and now enjoys spending his spare time skateboarding for pleasure. He’s sponsored by DVS Shoes, an American footwear and clothing company, through which he’s launched his own signature skateboard shoes, further increasing his wealth.
