Dave Chappelle Wiki, Bio

Born David Khari Webber Chappelle on the 24th August 1973, in Washington D.C. USA, he is the son of William David Chappelle III, who worked as a professor at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Yvonne K. Chappelle Seon, also a professor successively at Howard University, the University of Maryland and Prince George’s Community College. He is the youngest child in the family with two older siblings. He spent his childhood in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he went to Woodlin Elementary School, but when his parents divorced, Dave moved with his mother to Washington D.C, but spent summers in Ohio with his father.

He matriculated from Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where he studied theatre arts.

Early Career

During his childhood years, Dave started showcasing his comedic skills, and from then on honed his comedy routine; over the years, his idols became Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor. He moved to New York City following the end of his education, feeling that he would have more chance in succeeding in the Big Apple. He began performing his comedy routines at minor clubs, but eventually reached Amateur Night at the famed Apollo Theater – his first performance wasn’t as successful as he hoped, but this just encouraged him to become better.

Early Film Roles and Success

Dave made his acting debut in the early ‘90s, appearing in such films as “Undercover Blues” (1993), and “Getting In” (1994). However, he struggled to get his career going until the mid- ‘90s, when he featured in the film “The Nutty Professor” in 1996. Since then, he has become a famed comedian and actor, and is particularly known for his own “Chappelle’s Show” (2003-2004). From 2005 to 2013, he made only a couple of stand-up appearances, but since his return, he has worked with Netflix on the release of his comedy specials, including “Dave Chappelle: Equanimity” (2017), “Dave Chappelle: The Bird Revelation” (2017), and “Dave Chappelle Sticks & Stones” (2019).

He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his comedy special “Equanimity” (2018), and has also won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, awarded by the John F. Kennedy enter for the Performing Arts. He also has a number of other awards in his collection, including an NAACP Image Award, two Grammys, and two BET Comedy Awards, among other awards and honors.

Dave Chappelle Net Worth

Do you know how rich Dave Chappelle is? Ibrahim Chappelle’s Mother, Elaine Mendoza Erfe

Ibrahim’s mother is Elaine Medoza Erfe, born on the 31st August 1974, in Brooklyn, New York City, USA, of part Filipino ancestry. Her parents emigrated to the US from the Philipines just a few months before Elaine’s birth, wanting to make a better future for their daughter, and it turned out to be a smart move. Elaine hasn’t pursued a noted career on her own, and is for now focused on raising Dave’s and her children. However, in recent years, she’s started as a manager of rental properties, which her husband owns across Ohio.
