Who is Olivier Martinez?
French actor Olivier Martinez was born in Paris, France, on 12 January 1966, making Capricorn his zodiac sign. He has 33 acting credits, and is perhaps still known best for portraying Paul Martel in the 2002 romantic thriller movie “Unfaithful”, which starred Richard Gere and Diane Lane, and was directed by Adrian Lyne. It follows a woman who’s begun cheating on her husband, and the movie won three of its 19 award nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Diane Lane).

Education and early life
Olivier was raised in Paris alongside his brother Vincent Martinez, who’s today also an actor, by their French mother who was a secretary, and Spanish father who was a professional boxer.
Olivier became interested in acting while attending a local high school, but he was also into sports and music; he starred in a number of school plays, played on the school’s soccer team and was in a band. Olivier matriculated in 1984 and then enrolled at Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.

Olivier’s debut TV series role was playing Rollo in the 1990 episode “Barbes de l’Aube a l’Aurore” of the crime drama “Navarro”, but then spent the following two decades appearing solely in movies, with his following TV series role having been in the 2012 episode “Gustov” of the thriller “Cybergeddon Zips”.
Also in 2012, Olivier portrayed Gustov Dobreff in two episodes of the thriller “Cybergeddon”, which starred Missy Peregrym and Elias Edraki, and was created by Anthony E. Zuiker; it follows FBI agent Chloe Jocelyn who’s been framed with a crime she hasn’t committed, and the series won one of its four award nominations.
In 2014 and 2015, Olivier played Pascal LeMarchal in six episodes of the critically acclaimed mystery thriller “Revenge”, which starred Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe, and was created by Mike Kelley. The series follows a woman who wants to avenge her father, it aired from 2011 through 2015 and won seven of the 36 awards for which it was nominated.

Olivier went on to play Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna in all five episodes of the 2015 historical western mini-series “Texas Rising”, and the following year saw him play Ed Grann in six episodes of the popular adventure science fiction “Mars”, which starred Jihae and Alberto Ammann, and was created by Mickey Fisher and Andre Bormanis. Set in 2033, the series follows Earth’s attempt to colonize Mars, and was nominated for five awards.
Olivier’s only other TV series role has been playing Jean-Pierre Voland in five episodes of the 2022 comedy “Loot”.
Roles in movies
Olivier’s debut film role was playing Pascal in the 1990 drama “Plein Fer”, and some of his following appearances were in the 1992 drama “Odyssee Bidon”, the 1992 crime adventure “IP5: The Island of Pachyderms” and the 1993 comedy “1, 2, 3, Freeze”.
In 1995, he portrayed the lead character Angelo Pardi in the romantic adventure “The Horseman on the Roof”, which also starred Juliette Binoche and Pierre Arditi, and was directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau. It follows an officer who’s helping a young woman locate her husband during wartime, and the movie won four of its 12 award nominations. The remainder of the ‘90s saw Olivier appear in the 1997 romantic drama “The Chambermaid on the Titanic”, the 1999 drama “La Ciudad de los Prodigios”, and the 2000 drama “The Slammer”.
What marked the 2000s for him was perhaps playing Paquette in the 2004 crime mystery thriller “Taking Lives”, which starred Ethan Hawke and Angelina Jolie, and was directed by D. J. Caruso. It follows an FBI profiler who’s begun working with the French Canadian police in an effort to catch a serial killer, and the movie was nominated for four awards. Olivier appeared in only two movies in the remainder of the 2000s: the 2007 fantasy horror “Blood and Chocolate” and the 2010 action adventure comedy “Knight and Day”.
He portrayed Shah Ala ad Daula in the 2013 historical adventure “The Physician”, which starred Stellan Skarsgard and Tom Payne, and was directed by Philipp Stolzl. Set in 11th century Persia, the movie follows a surgeon’s apprentice who’s pretending to be a Jew so that he could study at a Jews-only school, and the movie was nominated for five awards.
Olivier’s since appeared in only two movies: the 2018 biographical adventure “Paul, Apostle of Christ” and the 2020 horror thriller “Mosquito State”.

There are two women whom Olivier’s been with, that we know about. He met Australian actress and singer Kylie Minogue at the 2003 Grammy Awards, the two began dating not long after this; and were together until February 2007, when they broke up for unknown reasons.
Olivier met famous American actress Halle Berry on the set of the movie “Dark Tide”, and they began dating in 2010; the two revealed that they had become engaged in March 2012, and then exchanged vows in a private ceremony in France on 13 July 2013. Halle gave birth to their son Maceo Martinez on 5 October 2013, but she and Olivier revealed in 2015 that they were divorcing; it was finalized in December 2016, although some sources claim that the case is still open today.
Oliver seems to be unattached as of July 2023, was once married to Halle Berry and has a son with her.
Interesting facts and hobbies
On 22 November 2012, Olivier was injured in a physical altercation with Halle Berry’s former partner Gabriel Aubry, who’s a Canadian model; he was treated at a hospital in Los Angeles.
Olivier has Andalusian and Valencian heritage, and is fluent in Spanish.
