American actor and comedian Kevin Darnell Hart was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, on 6 July 1979, making Cancer his zodiac sign. He has 90 acting credits and is probably known best for starring as Ben Barber in the 2014 action crime comedy movie “Ride Along”, which also starred Ice Cube and was directed by Tim Story. It follows a man who’s trying to impress his girlfriend’s police officer father by going on a patrol with him, and the movie won one of its eight award nominations.

Kevin was raised in Philadelphia alongside his older brother Robert, solely by their mother Nancy as their father Henry Hart was a cocaine addict, and spent most of his time in jail; Nancy worked at the University of Pennsylvania’s Office of Student Registration and Financial Services as a systems analyst; she died in 2007. Finding it hard to cope with lacking a father figure while growing up, Kevin found comfort in comedy; he studied at George Washington High School and upon matriculating in 1997 enrolled at Community College of Philadelphia. Kevin dropped out and moved to New York City in pursuit of comedy, but then moved to Brockton, Massachusetts and became a shoe salesman.

His father eventually stopped using drugs and the two have since become close.

Kevin made his debut film appearance in the 2001 comedy “North Hollywood”, and some of his following film roles were in 2002, in the  action crime comedy “Paper Soldiers” and the comedy “Class of ‘06”, then appeared in the 2003 musical comedy “Death of a Dynasty”; his debut TV series role was in the same year, playing Luke in three episodes of the  comedy “Undeclared”.

What marked the 2000s for Kevin was perhaps playing No. 17 in the 2008 adventure family comedy movie “Meet Dave”, which starred Elizabeth Banks and Eddie Murphy, and was directed by Brian Robbins. It follows a group of miniature aliens as they’re operating a spaceship which has a human form, and the movie won two of its five award nominations. Some of Kevin’s roles in the remainder of the 2000s were in the 2008 comedy film “Extreme Movie”, the romantic movie “Lost Easily Horizons” and theaction fantasy comedy series “Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire” both in 2009.

He starred as Cleavon in the 2011 romantic comedy movie “35 and Ticking”, and was then cast to play the lead character Cedric in the 2012 romantic comedy movie “Think Like a Man”, which also starred Chris Brown and Gabrielle Union, and was directed by Tim Story. It follows the lives of four friends who’ve discovered that their other halves are using Steve Harvey’s dating advice against them – the movie won three of its 17 award nominations.

Some of Kevin’s most recent roles have been in the 2022 animated action adventure movie “DC League of Super-Pets” (voice role), the 2022 comedy movie “Me Time”, and the 2023 action comedy film “Die Hart”.

He’s won 20 of his 70 award nominations, which include two Primetime Emmy nominations in 2020 and 2021, for his performance in “Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up” and “Die Hart”, respectively.

Kevin’s a huge fan of poker, and has been playing competitively since 2010; he competed in the 2014 World Series of Poker, and in September 2020 stated that he’d won close to $50,000 in live tournament games.

He was involved in a serious car crash on 1 September 2019, when he was being driven in a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda which rolled down an embankment off Mulholland Highway; both Kevin and the driver suffered ‘major back injuries’ and were rushed to a hospital.
