Margarita Levieva

The actress Margarita Levieva was born on 9th February 1980, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, into a family of Russian-Jewish descent. During their childhoods, both of her grandmothers survived the siege of Leningrad, which took place during World War II.

Margarita began doing rhythmic gymnastics from the age of three. She emigrated to the USA with her mother and twin brother Michael at the age of 11; the family eventually settled down in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and despite being accepted into the prestigious Laguardia High School to study dance, she attended a public high school in New Jersey instead.

While working in the fashion industry, Margarita graduated from New York University a year early, with a double major in economics and psychology as well as minors in Russian history, sociology, and philosophy. She would then complete the Meisner Acting Program in New York.

Career

Margarita’s first credited film and TV roles came in 2005, as she appeared in the movie “English”, and made a guest appearance as Stephanie Davis in “Law & Order: Trial by Jury”. Over the next two years, she would have roles in the feature films “Noise”, “David’s Apartment”, and “The Invisible”, as well as a starring role in the Fox series “Vanished”, which ran for one season.

In 2009, the gorgeous blonde played Heather in the sex comedy film “Spread”, and Lisa P in the comedy-drama “Adventureland”; she also had a guest starring role as Claudia in an episode of “Kings” and made her Broadway debut in “Impressionism”. The following year, she was cast as Julie in the HBO series “How to Make It in America”. Some of the actress’s 2011 projects include a recurring role as Amanda Clarke in “Revenge”, playing Reggie Campo in the legal thriller movie “The Lincoln Lawyer”, and portraying Veronica in the comedy/drama film “The Stand Up”.

In 2013, Margarita’s left the cast of “Revenge” and joined the crime thriller series “The Blacklist”, playing the feisty and spirited Gina Zanetakos until 2016. Her film roles during this time included playing Mila in the foreign movie “Skoryy Moskva-Rossiya”, Beth in the comedy horror “Knights of Badassdom”, and Vicky Fry in “The Loft”.

After 2018, the actress’s movie roles slowly dried up, perhaps due to the commercial failure of some of her projects – such as “Future World”, an unsuccessful mishmash of genres which brought in just $160,000 at the box office before going straight to video. Margarita’s last film role was playing Josie Riley in “Inherit the Viper”, Anthony Jerjen’s feature directing debut.

Even so, the Russian celeb has had much better luck with TV. In 2015, she was cast as Natalie O’Connor in the spy drama series “Allegiance”, which ran for one season before being quietly cancelled. Two years later, she had yet another starring role, this time as an adventurous college student named Abby Parker in “The Deuce”. 2022 was another particularly good year for Margarita, as she landed two more leading roles: one as Jenny Franklin in the Netflix show “In From the Cold”, and another as Marina Litvinenko in the British miniseries “Litvinenko”.

During 2023, Margarita is busy filming for the upcoming series’ “The Acolyte” and “Daredevil: Born Again”, which are both set for release in 2024. “The Acolyte” is part of the “Star Wars” franchise and is a prequel of the main films; although Margarita has yet to divulge what role she’ll be playing, we can confirm that she’ll be working alongside talents such as Amanda Stenberg and Manny Jacinto. Meanwhile, “Daredevil: Born Again” is based on the Marvel Comics character Daredevil, and is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Once again, Margarita’s role in the show is undisclosed.

Personal Life

Margarita has never been one to allow the media into her private life, and has only been in one confirmed relationship to date. Back in 2007, the “Revenge” star was rumored to have had a short-lived fling with the Canadian actor Justin Chatwin, known for his breakthrough role in the 2005 blockbuster “War of the Worlds”. Although both parties played it coy and avoided discussing their relationship status, the attractive duo was photographed together at the Los Angeles premiere of “The Invisible”.

Seven years later, the blonde went public with Sebastian Stan, a talented actor whose portrayals of Tommy Lee in “Pam & Tommy” and Bucky Barnes in “Captain America” have garnered him thousands of fans around the globe. Sebastian and Margarita first met on the set of “Spread” in 2009, but wouldn’t start dating until 2014. By then, the actor had already been in relationships with his “Gossip Girl” co-star Leighton Meester, “Glee” star Dianna Agron, and “Once Upon a Time” alum Jennifer Morrison.

During their two-year relationship, the Russian-born actress made several appearances in Sebastian’s Instagram feed, such as one sweet post captioned: “It was a very good year. #2k14”. In 2015, Sebastian continued to flaunt Margarita on his social media, allowing his followers a glimpse into their seemingly idyllic relationship. That year, the former couple vacationed in Berlin and were spotted together at famous eateries and high-profile events.

In October 2015, Margarita dotingly referred to Sebastian as one of her favorite people; however, the relationship soured shortly afterwards, as they reportedly split in 2016. Both Sebastian and Margarita refused to comment publicly on their break-up, and it would take the handsome actor years before he publicly moved on with the Spanish actress Alejandra Onieva, whom he was spotted kissing on a yacht in Ibiza in summer 2020. As for Margarita, she has yet to be linked to anyone else, although she did give birth to a son in 2022.

Margarita is believed to be worth $3 million thanks to her acting career and occasional brand endorsements. The Saint Petersburg native is 5ft 6 inches (168cm) tall and weighs 53kgs (117lbs); for the time being, she has yet to disclose her son’s name or who his father is, although we can safely assume that it’s someone unrelated to the entertainment industry.
