Who is Joy Taylor?
American media personality Joy Allison Taylor was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA, on 17 January 1987, making Capricorn her zodiac sign. She’s today working for Fox Sports 1 as a TV host, and together with Nigerian-American former Football Player Emmanuel Chinedum Acho and American former Football Player LeSean Kamel McCoy, is co-hosting the show “Speak”; Joy had previously worked as a news update anchor for the show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”, and her own “The Joy Taylor Show”.
She, American former Football Player Shannon Sharpe, and American sports columnist and commentator Skip Bayless were moderators of the show “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed”.
Education and early life
Joy was raised alongside her sister Grace and brothers Jason and Noah in Pittsburgh, by their father Anthony Taylor and mother Georgia, both of whom were in the US Army; Joy rarely speaks about her family in public, but it’s known that her brother Jason’s a former Football Player who spent 15 years in the National Football League (NFL).
She grew up being focused on her studies, and was amongst the best students at her high school; Joy took on numerous activities during her four years there, as she was a member of the school’s debate team, played soccer, and took creative writing lessons.
She matriculated in 2005 and then enrolled at Barry University to study broadcast communications, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009; while still at the university, she hosted the radio show “The Noise” and was the manager of the radio station WBRY.
In May 2022, Joy was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by Barry University.
Joy’s career
One of Joy’s first jobs was at the radio station WAXY, where she hosted their show “790 AM The Ticket”; she had to move to Miami, Florida for the job, and held it for three years. She eventually became a co-host of the station’s most popular morning sports show – “Zaslow and Joy Show”.

Joy was then hired by CBSSsports.com, hosting both “Thursday Night Live” and “Fantasy Football Today”, before in March 2016 being invited to join FOX Sports, which she revealed was a dream come true. She worked on multiple positions at FOX, initially filling in occasionally for American TV host and sports reporter Kristine Leahy on the show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”. It was announced by FOX on 15 August 2016 that Joy would become the moderator for their new sports debate program “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed”.
Joy eventually began hosting her own podcast – “Maybe I’m Crazy” – and the Facebook Live show “The Hang”, and in 2018, FOX revealed that she would be quitting “Skin and Shannon: Undisputed” to work on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”, which today airs on both Fox Sports Radio and Fox Sports 1.
Fox Sports Radio gave her her own Saturday show “The Joy Taylor Show” on 9 September 2021, and since 6 September 2022, Joy’s been co-hosting “Speak”, which airs on Fox Sports 1.

Joy has her own self-titled YouTube channel, which she launched on 5 October 2013, but it’s only subscribed to by close to 25,000 people, and all her 14 videos together have been watched more than 400,000 times. She’s more popular for the videos which feature her, and which have been uploaded onto other YouTube channels; we’re going to cover three of the most viewed amongst these, as they’ve contributed to Joy’s popularity on the internet.
Her #1 video “Shameless Promotion with Joy Taylor | DIRECTV Studio” has been watched more than 1.6 million times since it was uploaded by DIRECTV on 26 October 2022, and features her speaking about sports in general at DIRECTV Studio.
Joy’s second most popular video “Sunday Setup with Joy Taylor + Jordan Palmer | DIRECTV Studio” was uploaded by DIRECTV on 18 October 2022, and has been watched nearly 1.5 million times; it features Joy interviewing American former Football Player Jordan William Palmer.
Her #3 video “Skip Bayless walks off the set of Undisputed live – Very funny with Shannon and Joy” was uploaded by Jake Pappalardo on 27 October 2017, and has since been watched more than 1.2 million times; it shows the time when Skip Bayless walked off the set of “Undisputed”.
Love life and husband
Joy avoids speaking about her love life in public, but it’s been revealed that she was a married woman. She and American former baseball player Richard Giannotti exchanged vows in a private ceremony in February 2016, after a couple of years of dating; Richard’s today working at Global Wealth Management Sports and Entertainment as a financial advisor. Joy and Richard’s divorce was finalized in 2017.
It was revealed in 2018 that Joy was in a serious relationship with American professional basketball player Earl Watson, who competed in National Basketball Association (NBA); he proposed to Joy in September 2018, but the two called it off in November 2019. They had previously purchased a home together for $2.75 million.
Joy seems to be unattached as of June 2023, was once married to Richard Giannotti, and doesn’t have children.
Interesting facts and hobbies
During a 2017 episode of the show “Undisputed”, Joy revealed that she had been physically abused by one of her former partners whose name she’s chosen to keep away from media. She stated that the man choked, suffocated and assaulted her, and that he once threw her down the stairs; she also revealed that he kicked her in the chest and dragged her out of her car.
Her brother Jason spent the majority of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
More than 600,000 people are following Joy on Instagram today, and she’s posted over 4,200 pictures and videos onto the network; most of these feature her working.
She’s a philanthropist and has worked with a number of charity organizations.
