The couple dated for five years before they exchanged their wedding vows, and are the parents of two children, a son named David Jake Rodriguez, born in February 2001, and a daughter named Natalia Rodriguez, born in February 2003. The family’s current residence is in Westchester County, New York.

However, he had to resign when accused of raping and sexual assaulting a 17-year-old girl in 2008; the girl claimed he raped her on the same day he participated in the arrest of her 35-year-old boyfriend. Although both David and his lawyer initially denied it, he eventually admitted to his guilt but he stated that there was no rape, so he was not sentenced to 25 years in prison, but instead to one-year probation with a five-year restraining order from the girl. During the trial, Darlene stood by his side, stating that he was innocent.

Darlene Rodriguez is also known for her charity work.
