Danielle Colby was born in Davenport, Iowa, USA, on 3 December 1975 – her zodiac sign is Sagittarius and she holds American nationality. Danielle is a reality TV star, best known for appearing in the “American Pickers” reality TV show, while she also serves as the show’s executive producer.

Childhood and education

Danielle was raised in Davenport in a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses who were very strict; her mother’s name is Sue Colby while Danielle has an older sister who goes by the name of Carbomb Betty.

Being raised in such a family means that Danielle is no longer in good relations with her parents, as their view of life completely differs from how Danielle is currently living.

She began taking acting and singing classes at the age of eight, and later acted in her high school’s plays – she didn’t enroll at college after matriculation, but rather pursued a career in entertainment, both acting and singing. While at high school, she was also very keen on roller skating, and eventually became a member of a roller derby team, later playing for Big Mouth Mickies – she also served as the team’s manager, but had to stop playing the sport after suffering an injury.

Career as an actress and a singer

Danielle came under the spotlight after she became a cast member of the “American Pickers” reality TV show –  its first episode aired on 18 January 2010 on the History Channel, and follows Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, two American men who travel around the US to buy and later sell antique and collectible items. Although Mike, the first star of the show, wanted Danielle to appear in the series, the rest of the film crew didn’t agree, saying ‘We’re not filming her, we have no contract with her, History wants you and Frank’. Even though Mike tried his best to change their minds, the crew still said ‘no’, so it took them two months to allow Danielle to begin appearing in the show.

She also served as an executive producer of the “Tempest Storm” documentary movie, released in 2016, which follows the life of the burlesque star Annie Blanche Banks, better known as Tempest Storm.

Danielle has been into clothing and fashion since she was a teenager, and has opened a boutique with her own clothing designs called 4 Miles 2 Memphis – before that, she worked as a clothing designer for Gorilla Clothing, without having any prior formal education in design.

After attending the “Satan’s Angel” show starring Margaret Cho in Chicago, Danielle was inspired to become a burlesque dancer – she went on to form the “Burlesque Le Moustache” dancing group with nine other people, and chose Dannie Diesel as her stage name. The group is somewhat famous in the US, and has been on several tours around the states, and held numerous concerts. After the group’s success, Danielle founded her academy – Dannie Diesel’s Bump ‘n’ Grind Academy – in Chicago in 2014. She’s also a professional picker, focused on finding and purchasing vintage stage costumes – it’s reported that she has an extensive collection from around the world, from as early as the 1800s.

Her collection includes a banana skirt which belonged to Josephine Baker, a French entertainer who lived from 1906 to 1975, a Mata Hari stage costume which dates from 1915, and an extremely rare Lillie Langtry costume dating from the 1890s.

Love life and marriage(s)

Danielle is married to Alexandre De Meyer, an artist and a graphic designer from France, possibly best known for his involvement with Michelin Museum, as he designed its blueprints. Their wedding took place on 14 February 2015, after the two dated for several years. They are seemingly living a happy life together, residing in Chicago, Illinois.

This is Danielle’s second marriage, as she was married to Kevin Colby from 2004 to 2009, however, the marriage did not last as Kevin, whom Danielle describes as a good man, wasn’t able to handle Danielle’s fame – as she stated in an interview ‘Fame and notoriety are not easy for him to deal with at all, so the relationship ended up not working.’ However, during their marriage, Danielle still gave birth to their two children.

Danielle was sexually molested when she was a kid, and was later once in an abusive relationship. It was also rumored that the reality TV star was dating Jeremy Scheuch, an artist and a producer, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Hobbies and other interests

Danielle is very fond of tattoos, and has plenty of them – every tattoo she has inked onto her skin represents someone she knows, a significant moment in her life, or a lesson she’s learned. She has several tattoos which were designed by her children, and although these aren’t professional, and it’s clear that these are a child’s work, these are her favorites. She’s was practicing singing and dancing before reaching teenage years, and is also a big fan of the film industry, having had several small roles in movies and TV series – her favorite films include “Citizen Kane” and “It’s a Wonderful Life”, while her favorite TV series is “I Love Lucy”.

She is not a big fan of all the attention she gets, and both she and Mike Wolfe can rarely be found in their stores, as they are trying to avoid the public’s curiosity. Danielle is a traveler, who has been to most American states in search of vintage and antiques things to purchase and then sell – she’s also travelled around Europe, and her dream travel destination is Paris in France.
