Early Life and Career Beginnings
Brittany grew up in Pleasant Grove, and developed a strong interest in dance when she was three years old, and soon started to train in the art. She began by learning ballet, before moving to jazz and ballroom dances despite being only five years old. She focused on her skills in Latin ballroom dances, and aspiring to find a career in the dance industry, she then looked towards television opportunities.
She auditioned for the 10th season of “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox, and made it into the top 20 of the competition.
The dance series is the flagship show of an international franchise created by Simon Fuller of “American Idol” fame. In the show, dancers must compete against each other in a variety of dance genres, testing how well they adapt to different styles. The dancers then compete on television in various dance genres, to try and make it through each week to be crowned “America’s Favorite Dancer”. Over the years, the show has won numerous awards, including nine Emmy Awards.
Rise to Fame
Cherry was unable to make it further into the competition as it required a lot of technical skill to switch dance genres, and she was only trained to focus on ballroom dancing. Despite that, a lot of opportunities came her way, and her specific skills led her to be hired as a part of the professional dance troupe of “Dancing with the Stars”. The show is the US version of “Strictly Come Dancing”, which was popularized in the UK. It has been running for 28 seasons and over 400 episodes.
In each season, celebrities are paired with a professional dancers, and must compete against each other in front of a panel of judges. The judges and the audience then vote for contestants to remain in the competition until a champion pair is crowned.
Brittany gained consistent work, and her fame increased significantly when she started working with Ed Sheeran for the music video of “Thinking Out Loud”.
The single proved to be highly successful, reaching the top spot in 2014, making it Sheeran’s second number-one single. It peaked at the second spot of the US Billboard Hot 100, and eventually achieved triple platinum certification in the UK. It was nominated for several Grammy Awards, winning Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Latter Career and Recent Projects
While Brittany continues to find work as a part of the troupe of “So You Think You Can Dance”, she has also taken in acting projects, which often consist of her doing dance performances.
She worked on the independent film called “Killer Bodies” alongside Paul Galliano and Emily Jordan, which follows the story of women who became dangerous after suffering abuse as victims. She also worked on the romantic comedy series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, which ran for four seasons on the CW. It stars Rachel Bloom, and follows the story of a lawyer who moves to a interstate in pursuit of her high school boyfriend. Despite great ratings from critics, the show struggled with consistently low ratings for its entire run, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on television to be renewed by its network.
One of her latest projects is the independent film “Bad Dream”, which was released in 2019, and starred Caleb Castille and Jacob Elordi.
It is known that Cherry is in a relationship though details about her partner are scarce. She has posted a few photos of them together on social media, and they often go to events together, but has remained unnamed. So she’s still officially single, and doesn’t have children.
She is deaf in one ear, which makes it hard for her to determine the direction of most sounds.
She also enjoyed playing sports for some time, but later left it behind as she did not find the same desire she did with dance. She has toured around the world as a part of her work, including a “Dancing with the Stars” tour across Asia and Europe. She is close friends with several “So You Think You Can Dance” alumni. and
