Christopher Stokowski Wiki Biography

Christopher Stokowski was born in August 1952 – he has spent his entire life in the US, holding American nationality, and is mostly popular thanks to his family, and now to the fact that he completely vanished from the media for more than 40 years- including apparent estrangement from his family – before re-appearing on the movie stage in 2016.

Christopher’s family: parents and grandparents

Christopher’s father Leopold Stokowski was born in 1882, and was part of an orchestra which made him popular – Leopold gained recognition after appearing in the “Fantasia” – Disney’s animated movie which is today considered to be one of the best animated movies of all time, according to the IMDb movie rating website. Christopher was born after Leopold married his third wife – therefore, Christopher has several step-brothers and sisters, including his step-sister named Sonia Maria Noel who was a famous actress.

His mother Gloria Laura Vanderbilt became popular while she was still a young girl thanks to Christopher’s grandparents who were fighting to win custody over her. Gloria’s first marriage failed due to her husband being abusive, and she married Leopold Stokowski after giving birth to her first son Leopold Stanislaus in 1950, and then to Christopher in 1952. Christopher’s parents were strangers to divorce – they went on to divorce again, and his mother Gloria married two more times – her fourth and last husband Wyatt Cooper seemed as a perfect match for her, and the two remained together until he died in 1978.

Cristopher’s detachment from the family and his education

After the court decided that Cristopher should stay and live with his mother after the separation of his parents, he was happy until she remarried two times and gave birth to two of his step-brothers – the boys made Christopher feel left out and put aside, which is why he steadily drifted away from his family. Christopher enrolled at the Bard College in Dutchess County, New York, and spent the next years focused on his love life, and entirely detached from his family.

Love life and marriage

It was 1974 when Christopher fell in love with April Sandmeyer – it was his last year at college, and as he was about to obtain his bachelor’s degree, believed that he was ready to exchange wedding vows with her. However, faith seemed to have had other plans, as his father’s health worsened and he died in 1977 after three years of struggle. Only a couple of months later, the husband of his mother died as well, which led his mother to start talking to a therapist – it would later turn out that the therapist was trying to destroy his and April’s relationship, which he later succeeded at as April left Christopher in 1978 – this marked the end of his good relations with his mother Gloria, who was apparently merely a puppet in the therapist’s plan to separate the two.

Hurt by what his mother did and by April leaving him, Christopher left New York, his family, and completely disappeared out of sight for nearly 40 years, but apparently tried winning April’s heart back several times, but wasn’t successful. His half-sibling Carter – born in his mother’s marriage with Wyatt – committed suicide in 1988, but this wasn’t important enough for Cristopher to return home and see his family.

Reappearing again

Not much was known about Christopher, and his family knew nothing about his whereabouts until he became a cast member in the “Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper” documentary movie, released by HBO on 9 April 2016.

The movie follows Gloria’s life, and talks very little about Christopher – it doesn’t reveal what Cristopher was doing during all the years he was away. Nevertheless, the film was a huge hit and helped Christopher reconnect with his family – he first began talking to his former love April who then arranged for him and his family to meet. While Christopher and his family can never be on as good a terms as they were when he was still young, they have got over things which happened in the past, and occasionally see each other.

Hobbies and other interests

Christopher grew up being interested in numerous things, and although not a lot is known about him after he graduated from college, his hobbies and interests while he was attending it are still known. Christopher was very sporting, and played soccer for the college team. He was quite popular both in high school and in college thanks to his enormously rich family, however, Christopher preferred to spend his time alone, mostly sitting in parks, and enjoying being close to trees and green surfaces. This all changed after he met his girlfriend April, who persuaded him to be more sociable, however, he went back to his old self after she broke-up from him.

Christopher was also a big fan of cinematography, and grew-up watching classics such as “Casablanca” and “Gone with the Wind” – he had a dream of becoming a successful actor, but this hasn’t come true for him, mostly because he was doing his best to stay away from media.

Appearance and net worth

Christopher has short blonde hair and blue eyes, while his height and weight are unknown.

According to authoritative sources, Christopher’s net worth is estimated to be more than $60 million – it is not known what Christopher has been doing for a living during those forty years he stayed away from the media’s attention, but his father Leopold left him with a lot of money in his will,, which was then split between him and his mother Gloria – the amount was said to be more than $200 million.

Social media presence

Christopher has spent his entire life wanting to stay away from media, which is one of the reasons why he abandoned his family and  went into hiding for nearly 40 years. He’s not active on any of the popular social media networks, and cannot be contacted in any way.
