Education and early years
Cheryl spent her entire childhood in New Jersey alongside her two older brothers named Kevin and Brian, and their mother Marie Picciano Scott – she hasn’t talked about her father, which is why most of her fans believe he wasn’t around as she was growing up.
Cheryl grew up being interested in both science and sports. Sports came to her thanks to her brothers who are both very sporting and were into football during their high school years – Cheryl enjoyed wearing their football team’s hoodies to school. Cheryl launched her career in 2006 while still attending the Brown University in Providence – she started working for WCAU-NCB 10 station as an intern. They didn’t hire her after her internship was finished, but she rather switched to WSEE-TV network, and served as their weekend weathercaster throughout 2007 – she was also simultaneously working for the Caribbean Weather Channel, which airs 24 hours a day.
After leaving WSEE-TV, Cheryl moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, to work for WBIR-TV station, another affiliate of NBC. She gained most of her recognition after a couple of very powerful tornadoes roamed around Knoxville, destroying everything in their path – Cheryl was there to cover the disaster, while also advising people to take measures against the new tornadoes which might appear.
After the danger was gone, Cheryl was surrounded by many people who were left without a roof over their heads, and was moved by the other people who were helping them – this made her join the Red Cross and volunteer to help all those who had been damaged by the weather in one way or the other.
In September 2011, Cheryl became part of the NBC 5 team in Chicago, and served as both the morning and weekend meteorologist. She left the network in December 2014 when she began working for the ABC 7 Eyewitness News as their meteorologist, and has been part of their team ever since – she is reportedly one of the most liked meteorologists in the US judging by people’s votes.

She has been a soccer player since she was very young, and was competing with her female soccer team at tournaments, however, she was injured and was taken to a hospital. Her Achilles tendon was damaged, and the injury made it almost impossible for her to participate in several sports – she spoke about her injury in 2017, and stated that it still hurts, and that she is still unable to play a couple of sports.
