Barrett was raised in Massachusetts by her mother who is a housewife and her father who is a real estate agent. The ‘809’ number is very significant for the two as it represents the date when they met for the first time, and later the date of their wedding 9 August 2003. The number is also inscribed in Joey’s wedding band.
The wedding took place at New York City’s Plaza Hotel in front of over 200 guests, and officiated by both a rabbi and a priest – Barrett changed her clothes two times.
She wore a strapless ivory silk gown made by Carolina Herrera for the ceremony while Joey wore a black Gucci tux. Their first dance was to the “Like a Virgin” song performed by Madonna. For their honeymoon, Barrett and Joey went to Nevis and St. Martin.
In November 2007, Barrett gave birth to their first son named Griffin Thomas and two years later in 2009, their second son Rhys followed. He is a singer, songwriter, and an actor, best known initially from the music band New Kids on the Block, which he has been a member of since 1985.
Joey was raised in Jamaica Plain by Thomas McIntyre who was a union official, and Katherine Bowen who was a community theatre actress. Katherine died on 30 November 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, and Thomas died on 12 November 2018. Joey is the youngest among nine children. He attended the Catholic Memorial School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts and then became focused on his career as a singer. Joey joined the New Kids on the Block music band in 1985 when he was about to turn 13.
The band went on to become one of the most successful boy bands in the US, having two of their albums reach #1 on the US Billboard charts – by 1991, the band was making more money than Madonna and Michael Jackson. However, they split in 1994, only to reunite in 2008 and they have been performing since then. In 1995 not long after his band split, Joey launched his solo career and made his debut film appearance in “The Fantasticks”. His first solo album “Stay the Same” was funded by himself as he couldn’t find a recording contract, so he went on to sell it on his website.
